Practice Offers Comprehensive Podiatry Care for Central Virginia Residents
Comprehensive foot care, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention, is at the heart of MedRVA Healthcare’s new podiatry practice in Petersburg.
Our board-certified physicians Ralph Ramos, DPM, CWSP, AACFAS and Justin Phillingane, DPM, CWSP, AACFAS, joined MedRVA Physician Services last summer and opened their doors to the community on Aug. 5.

Phillingane and Ramos have joined the MedRVA family and are excited about the level of care they provide residents of Central Virginia,” said Taylan Bozkurt, president and CEO of MedRVA Healthcare. “Our research shows the need for comprehensive podiatric care exists, and we’re pleased that we can meet community needs.”
MedRVA Healthcare’s imaging center and its premier independent ambulatory surgery centers are perfect umbrellas for the podiatry practice. They provide seamless coordination of care for patients undergoing surgical and reconstructive procedures, fracture repairs and joint replacement surgeries.
“MedRVA is perfectly poised to transition patients from diagnosis to surgery to post-surgical services,” said Bozkurt. “Our goal is to ensure that care is coordinated from the moment patients enter our practice offices until they leave our care.”
MedRVA Podiatry practice areas include diabetic foot care, acute trauma and fracture care, biopsies and skin lesions, plantar fasciitis and fungal nails, flat feet and wound care. Services include ankle arthroscopy, flat foot reconstruction, hammertoe surgery, foot and ankle fracture repair, skin graft application and minimally invasive bunion surgery.
The physicians also will be proactively delivering charitable care in the community through monthly visits to CrossOver Ministry’s locations in Henrico and Richmond.
Dr. Ramos, DPM, CWSP, AACFAS, is a podiatric surgeon covering all facets of podiatry and specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University, School of Podiatric Medicine, Miami Shores, FL. He completed his residency in podiatric medicine and surgery, with reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery, at Mercy Hospital in Miami. Dr. Ramos is certified by the American Board of Wound Management, and practices advanced wound care therapies, including surgical debridement and wound grafts. Dr. Ramos is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Phillingane, DPM, CWSP, AACFAS, a native of Prince George, VA, focuses on all areas of podiatry, with a particular interest in diabetic and sports-related podiatry. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University, School of Podiatric Medicine, Miami Shores, FL. He completed his residency and medical specialty at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. He also holds a master’s degree in education from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
